Sam Parkinson

Sam specialises in helping clients secure rights for electronic, mechanical and software inventions in New Zealand, Australia, and elsewhere.
As a patent attorney, Sam headed up the searching team of one of New Zealand’s largest patent attorney firms. He has in-depth experience advising on freedom to operate, and drafting and prosecuting patent applications. Sam also has experience working in-house where he uses his commercial acumen to provide strategic intellectual property advice.

Working in both Australia and New Zealand designing products in the security, agricultural, utility monitoring, IoT and mining sectors, Sam has developed a sound understanding of product design across many industries that allows him to quickly come to grips with the features of new innovations and how best to protect them.
Known for his high quality work and his ability to engage with clients, Sam expertly guides clients through the patenting process with ease.

Tonia Brugh

Tonia is a renowned trade mark and intellectual property lawyer, with over 20 years of domestic and international experience advising clients in this area. Tonia also has a strong commercial and entertainment practice, including drafting, reviewing and advising on a wide range of commercial agreements.
Having lived and worked in New Zealand, Australia, UK and Europe, Tonia has gained significant experience working in a number of sectors. She also offers a unique perspective, given her experience working in London (UK) with one of Europe’s leading law firms and with some of the largest US media technology companies such as Apple Corp, Warner Bros. and Google across their UK and European matters.
Tonia spent her formative years growing up in Rarotonga, Cook Islands and is passionate about supporting Pasifika and Māori entrepreneurs in her work. She is an advocate of te reo Māori and tikanga and assists a number of Māori Boards in a pro-bono capacity, as well as acting on the Advisory Board for Pacific Growth Business Network and supporting her esteemed Trustees at Te Murumāra Foundation (Te Aka Māori Dictionary).
